Nice to see a 4ltr car with its original body.

I notice in the write up, it describes the gearbox as having a synchomesh 3rd gear, what could that refer to?

The gearbox is the "F" (8L) type, and 3rd speed is "constant mesh", and not synchronised.
Selection of 3rd / 4th speeds is by sliding dogs.
Noting a failed bearing in the original, the 1st,2nd and 3rd motion shafts sport no less than 12 ball races.

I see that there is a newly published £20.00 book on Skinners Union.

Thanks for the heads-up, John. A lovely old thing with wonderful patination (the car, I hasten to add).

When driving with the F box, you pull straight through from 3rd to top without pausing. Otherwise it's the usual carry-on and if you get it wrong it gives your arm a good shaking. All part of the fun!

BS box is also straight through from 3rd to top. With a reasonable amount of clutch stop, it is as fast as you can when cold, stop in neutral but don't pause when warm. Mind you, you could go and make a cup of tea while in neutral if changing between 1st and 2nd at anything over about 1000 rpm.

Did anyone else spot the other inaccuracies in the advertisement.

"Heads up" "Skaking" "Lunched", what has happened to plain speaking. The English Language is polluted, "deffo".

Well, I think that the 3ltr carried on after 1927, and did the 4ltr have a cable opperated hand brake or an overhead camshaft? (oise)

Look again. The 4 litre has a block mounted camshaft.
