I was surprised to see so many post 1965 Bentleys being broken for spares, some look to be in good order but doubtless have some terminal condition.

Indicative of how cheap these cars are, just not worth repairing when you can buy a runner for so little.

The chassis.

Wonder if that has something to do with it, if your Mk6/R/S has terminal body shell troubles, you can at least recycle the chassis, thereby dodging the scrap man. The other equation is that of perceived repair cost versus actual. As said above, it is probably that, and seemingly a lack of support for the cars. There is mention of no key blanks elsewhere in these notes, which hardly inspires confidence considering what else might be without spares.

I suspect electronics are the main culprit.

The cost of rectifying the electrolytic corrosion between door handles and door panels (and the boot too) far outweighed the value of the car - a 1990 Mulsannes S Mk II.
Steering racks for an Arnage are £11000 to buy but only £5000 if you exchange old for new. Then there's the fitting. So many go for scrap because they are too costly to repair and beyond the ability of the private owner to DIY.
Will the GT range go the same way?
